AND NOW THAT I HAVE READ IT....

I second the above statement involving squees and startling dogs. Oh man, that was all kinds of amazing and wrong. And sexy, of course. I really loved the concept of Shatterstar enjoying dancing as a kind of fighting without violence.

I'm glad the amazing and sexy balanced out the wrong. I was worried, since the fic doesn't really end well.

it really doesn't, but it's incredibly hot.

and not every story has a happy ending.

(Daken, you fuck ^.^;)

Daken is such a bastard. Go forth Shatterstar and apologize and make Julio feel better for being sort of manipulated into making out with a psychopath!

Shatterstar's sexy acrobatics and being so flexible were definite pluses. As athletic as he is, as in control of his body as he is, and with the enhanced learning capabilities....I can't help but imagine he'd be a total monster (haha, look what I did there) in bed.

Between this and the Rictor/Stars threesome fic, I'm kind of starting to imagine Shatterstar might be a little bit of an exhibitionist. As much on the dance floor, as in battle or in the bedroom. Wanting to really be flashy and exciting and visually stunning for Rictor.

That is my personal fanon that I throw into very, very, very many fics of mine. It's true :3

I mean, he's a performer by nature and very in control of his body, which is athletic, more flexible than a normal human's, and also very light. His body is like his swords, a flashy and useful tool. I doubt he understands that he should be made uncomfortable by, say, having sex in a restroom with someone else there and someone else listening in outside. I mean, if the rebels had sex, they probably didn't have privacy. And, as much as I hate to say it, he's probably learned a lot about sexuality from TV which is very voyeuristic about sexuality.

Oh, INDEED.

Thinking about things lately, I'm tempted to go dig out my Sociology textbook again. As I recall, there was a lot of discussion in it about how cultural upbringing really impacts people. For example, I don't really think Shatterstar has that same restraint or shame that is often connected in Western culture to things like relationships, sex, and sexuality. Even though he's been on earth for many years, and learned about what is the normal/acceptable here.....even so, it wouldn't sink in and have the same impact as someone raised on those social mores.

He grew up in a culture of slavery, and a lack of privacy. In a world devoted to entertainment above all else, something that isn't just going to go away because it's an ingrained part of him. And yes, he's probably learned a lot about earth and what's acceptable and normal for sexuality by watching television. It is not the best teacher, sometimes.

And that different sociology is why I need Shatterstar/Rictor or Rictor/Shatterstar D/s kink so bad. For all the bad-wrong-ouch things it would bring with it.

Socio-psychology is apparently my new source of inspiration for porn! Oh dear.

I can't write, but my brain is full of Socio-psychology goodness? :D

Man, between those two there really MUST be so many screwed up issues concerning D/s and the like. I mean, Shatterstar was a slave and Rictor was kidnapped by the Right, held prisoner by them for who knows how long, and tortured. So there's all kinds of baggage.

....o-on the other hand, it isn't unheard of for survivors of violence/abuse to feel the desire/compulsion to reenact those experiences later on, as adults. Especially when it takes place during the sexually-formative years. It's a kind of "replaying it to reclaim control of it", in some cases.

Yep. That's pretty much it. I don't like healing sex, but I do like Hurt/Comfort that explores past traumas through sexuality. Especially with sexual roleplay which either let's someone control their trauma or that lets them playfully be the bad guy in their own trauma. It takes a lot of trust to do that with someone and blah blah blah.

TMI-wise, it's probably because I'm kinky and I definitely want to play with my psychological problems through kink. So far, I haven't, but kink is still plenty of fun without TONS OF BAGGAGE.

Healing sex, in my opinion, is a pretty lame concept. Hurt/Comfort, I think, is a little different and probably more realistic. The sex doesn't make it all better, but the intimacy can be helpful and it does push all kinds of buttons in the best ways. And sometimes, the not-so-best ways.

I would totally love to see Rictor and Shatterstar kinky D/s stuff, while we're at it. I fully encourage any soul that takes up that worthy and glorious challenge. And for those two, honestly, I think such kinky things would be incredibly good for their relationship and their emotional well-being. Trust seems to be a major issue for Rictor right now, so getting beyond that to really PLAY with Star would be a major step for him.

Apparently, it's scientifically true that under the right conditions you can bring up a memory and modify or change the way it's stored. There's drugs that can actually prevent someone from developing PTSD, for instance, and ways to erase memories and etc. etc. etc. by first having the person recall the memory and then do something to them while the memory is recalled.

But that has nothing to do with H/C. I just like it, because I love angst and sap. And H/C is both. Yay!

I might be taking on the challenge myself, it's just a difficult challenge, so I'm still tossing around the idea in my head.
