Carthage said he loved me, once
as did Alexandria and Rome

they lied.
I hid in dark places.
I slept with saints in catacombs
In vaults of spices in Cathay
There I lay
In wait.
Until
Secrets and rhymes festered in me
forced me to
Awaken.
Betrayed and betraying
I reduce them all
to fools.
3. (a haiku.)
In Times New Roman
I breathe in the gritty sand
Lost on Celsius
4. Cartesian Plane
fill me with your
lines, charts and diagrams
pin me down with graphite and straightedge.

repeat.
compass and protractor
cover me with points
I lie aware
and unmoving
and never, never changed.
