Fantasy Realms

(summary courtesy of wikipedia)
It is about a girl named Shiva, who is a traveler and ex-priestess-in-training, a boy named Rico, who is a "flunked cadet" from the military, a boy younger than either Rico or Shiva named Ledin, who is a pickpocket and priest-in-training, a green haired girl named Landra who knows magic and is barely introduced, and Calais, a Priestess of Gaina who trained Shiva before she ran away and now trains Ledin.

The art of Fantasy Realms is excellent, and I consider it to be a good plot, if slightly cliche.

Fey Winds

Fey Winds is the story of a group of adventurers seeking artifacts left behind by a magical spirit, the Sylph, who once roamed the land doing random good deeds. The main character, Kit, is a fox who was turned into a girl by a witch's bungled spell after Kit chased her chickens. She was found by an elf, Larina, who left the elven mountains some time after being implanted with a stone of possession, which occasionally allows random spirits to possess her. They are joined by Nigel, an ex-mercenary who was cursed by a witch to follow someone "a girl, but not a girl, neither human nor dwarf nor elf," the description of which Kit fits. They are later joined by a day-dreaming prince with bard skills who turns into a dragon whenever frightened.

And they go off looking for things.

I would say that Fey Winds is one of my favorite new comics; it's an interesting story, fast-paced and VERY funny, and the art is excellent, and the style fits the comic perfectly.

Order of the Stick

I doubt there are many of you who HAVEN'T heard of OOTS. It's a humorous epic fantasy comic drawn... with stick figures.

The story is about the group of adventurers, the Order of the Stick, led by Roy Greenhilt, a warrior bound by family obligations to kill Xykon, an evil magical overlord. He is assisted in his quest by Haley Starshine, the rogue, Elan the chronically stupid but cheerful bard, Belkar, the psychopathic murdering halfling, Varsuvius the elven mage of somewhat indeterminate gender, and Durkon, the reliable dwarf.

In addition to Xykon, his hobgoblin army, and the mysterious ultimate weapon that hides under an umbrella to keep him indistinguishable in shadows, the OOTS has to face down the Linear Guild, a curious doppelganger league led by Elan's clever and evil twin brother, Nale.

We actually met the writer once, if you remember; he was at Katsucon one year. OOTS is an amusing comic, with surprising amounts of plot, though there's little seriousness in its Dungeons & Dragons parody.

Haru-Sari

Haru-Sari begins with June, who is chronically ill (with a disease made up for the story). Believed to have only a short time left to live, she is sent to a new doctor--who she discovers to be an elf, a genetic mutant who are small (pointy-eared) and often have some sort of psychic abilities.

While some elves--generally those who are natural-born elves--are stable and acceptable in society (though looked down upon) those who are not are frequently psychopathic and incredibly dangerous.

Enter Leon, a hunter of these psychopathic elves, and Francis Alberich, his cool-minded boss, and you find a story full of suspense and mystery. And a little unrequited love. ^_^
