Steve Irwin is dead. He was snorkeling and a stingray's barbed tail got him through the chest. There is a big crocodile hunter-shaped hole in my soul now. This being me, I would add some wry comment because of my own incapability of feeling sorrow, but I can't think of one.

I find this rather sad:

When asked about his death, Margaret Keech (a Queensland high-up mucky-muck) said "It's a dreadful loss for the tourism industry."

That IS sad. I mean, I really don't agree with some of his critics. He was a great man, who lived his life doing something that so many people wish they could do, and he made it possible for them to life through him, to feel that excitement.
