Lol, I know this came out of nowhere. But here, a rambling teentop meta. Because they were confirmed for an almost-concert in my country which then got cancelled. ):<
Written quickly from just the top of my head from whatever videos I’ve watched of them (mostly unsubbed). I've yet to watch the newly subbed videos. I'll add more if I need to after watching them.
CAP (real name minsoo; 92-er)
Rapped for his audition, works out, has two tattoos (one on his shoulder, another at the nape of his neck), sleeps a lot. Leader and the oldest, but is a push-over for the rest of the members in the group. Nice in a sense that he doesn’t exploit the fact that he’s their hyung and lets them step all over him, but still occasionally gets back at them. Passive most of the time, but plays along when he gets dragged in by the others (especially Chunji and L.joe, who needs him in their ‘hyung group’ in order to stand equal against the three maknaes). Generally monotonous and pretty soft-spoken, but he has his awkward moments where he tries to be loud and funny but fails. Also still slightly stiff when delivering his obligated leader-ly lines. Envied by Chunji, L.joe and Ricky for his sculpted body. Reads a lot, as he thinks reading will help him with writing raps. Was a main in mnet scandal (I don’t watch that so I might miss some important points of his character).
Chunji (real name chanhee; 93-er)
Sang for his audition, played basketball, would like to work out when he’s of age and have a body like CAP’s. (Actually it's only L.Joe and Ricky. Oops, my bad.) Forms a formidable ‘hyung group’ with L.joe and bullies the crap out of the three maknaes. He’s actually not as mean as L.joe, but when they’re paired together, his meanness increases fivefold. Plays up the fanservice with L.joe everywhere, and often gets referred to as his girlfriend. A hard-worker; always looking to improve his singing. His personal talent is impersonating some character from a comedy (I can’t remember who but it’s so adorbs every time he does it loll). Vain; always checking his hair in any reflective surfaces he could find. He’s always cheerful. He’s more of an observer, and then getting enthusiastic at whatever the others come up with and goes along with it.
L.joe (real name byunghun; 93-er)
Rapped for his audition, lived in California and is multi-talented. Plays violin (he played all the violin parts in Clap and Come into the World), piano, and writes songs (wrote a birthday song for Niel and one for the Japanese fanmeet). Really mischievous; picks on and bugs the maknaes all the time and gets away with it. Generally soft-spoken too but can get loud/animated when he’s part of the revelry. He seems close (touchy-feely) with Chunji, Ricky and sometimes Niel. Ricky is the only one of the three maknaes who shows slight indifference towards his bullying and skinship, but Niel is terrified of him in the ‘hyung please I never bug you so please don’t bug me go away please’ way so maybe he finds that endearing lmao. Plays up the fanservice with Ricky and Chunji; literally claiming both of them as his. Was a main in mnet scandal (again, I don’t watch that).
Niel (real name daniel; 94-er)
Sang for his audition, played soccer. Really loud, animated, playful, child-like and innocent. Maybe has the mental age of 10 forever. Carries the main vocals, is always in the spotlight, and is also the face of the group while the others sort of fade into the background. Yet he’s still adored immensely by them. He’s just really a pure, genuine boy who is still himself despite being under all that pressure. Idk, personally, I’d wanna protect his innocence for as long as I could. He’s been called the most feminine member of the group, just for his characteristic big eyes and full lips. The others like to tease him for the same reasons. Always does playful things with Ricky and occasionally Changjo (the ‘dongsaeng/maknae group’). Gets specially teased by CAP (he rarely teases others, just Niel ideky). Also always gets bullied by L.joe and Chunji. He’s just really fun to pick on ‘cause he’s so damn animated and comical all the time. Ricky and Changjo would stand by him sometimes and help him stand up to the hyungs.
Ricky (real name changhyun; 95-er)
Danced for his audition. Was an actor (It was only for one MV so Idk if it counts as proper acting). Really good dancer; flexible, has smooth moves, etc. Visual maknae - cutest, sweetest, does the most aegyo, etc. Pretty popular amongst Japanese fans. Loves the camera and is always the one going around filming others or himself. And he does a great job at it too. Plays up the fanservice with L.joe and is possibly the only dongsaeng who can tell him off or bicker with him and get away with it.
Changjo (real name jonghyun; 95-er)
Danced for his audition, and the actual maknae. Did martial arts. Really good dancer; able to choreograph dance moves on his own. Seems pretty soft-spoken and is camera-shy on first look, but he’s actually not. He’s the real mood-maker of the group, the funny one, or the 4-D one, but we don’t really get to see it. Only saw snippets of that side of him through Making the Artist. Finds strength in numbers (will dejectedly receive L.joe and Chunji’s bullying most of the time, but when teamed up with Niel and Ricky, he bravely defies them). He’s also popular in Japan, like Ricky. If in Korea it’s more of L.joe/Niel/Chunji, in Japan it’s more of Niel/Changjo/Ricky. He does and practices a bit of magic. It’s a personal talent of his and it has been done a few times on broadcast.
All in all
They’re all still really awkward at recorded interviews or radio shows and are still getting used to being in front of the camera. They fare better as a group at such things. They are huge fans of Shinhwa and Big Bang and do covers of their songs all the time. (Them reduced to blushing fanboys in the presence of BB or even Eric is just such an adorable sight.) They love video games and are very competitive when it comes to it.
Like I said, just some incoherent rambling. (what is grammar D:) I think I made some mistakes here and there. And I don't really know them predebut. Open for objections/discussions! I don't bite. ^__^
