so i'd say today was my first HARD day at the new job and i pretty okay with it :)
so i was basically given a client who has already refused to work with my supervisor because the two of them couldn't get along .... said client was drumed up to be this horrible beast who was going to eat me alive ... and judging from the history of it all (all the old notes on the clients folder etc) rightly so! i was terrified! i was suddenly worried it was being thrown into the pool and it was sink or swim and the client was gonna hate me and i was gonna fail the company and they would fire me*
so i studied up on all the history i could, read every scrap of note taken on this project, found scary inconsistencies, asked people about them to see if anyone remembered and no, they hadn't ... now bear in mind during the earlier beastializing of this client they said she "HATES being asked anything a second time, so don't ask her anything that she's already been asked" ... um ... WTF?!?!?!?!?!
so at this point i'm picturing myself going back to my old job and begging ... which is a truly horrible thought on many levels
so it's now ZOMG'clock and the meeting starts up and lo and behold it really wasn't all that terrible at all ... sure she was frustrated with the process up until now, and yeah she's clearly overwhelmed in the position she's in at her company ... and no i didn't love her ... but she wasn't a beast ... not to me at least
*side note i just put together the fact that my old boss would always do this sink or swim style first project thing to new people and often they just never came back after that ... hmmmm
