...Akihiko had expected that ever since he posted, but it's not like he could go without warning the others. He can endure the "I told you so"s, even if they were irritating.
If it's part of the Shadow's ability, nothing says that having more of us out there would have had a different outcome. We all could have just ended up back here with muddled memories.
All I have left is a pretty shallow scrape on my left leg. Everything else seems fine. And my head is perfectly fine except for the fuzzy memory. He wants to cut that objection short before Mitsuru can even get to it. ...I'm assuming I cast Dia several times though, judging by the damage done to my uniform.
...Damage? Akihiko, just what happened out there? I know that your memory is a bit foggy, but surely you must have some notion of what happened.
And, I wouldn't mind a little more information; just how badly was your uniformed damaged? And how much money will the Group need to withdraw from the S.E.E.S account in order to replace it?
And we can't know for sure if it would have been futile; maybe the Shadow can only manipulate one target at a time. As it is, I'd like to restrict solitary patrols for the time being.
When the Dark Hour came, something destroyed the lamppost I was standing next to, and then I fought a few small Shadows and that's it. Next thing I can remember seeing is my room.
Um. I might be able to sew up my vest. The shirt and pants are probably beyond saving - they're little more than rags at this point. Hell, even my watch band got snapped.
Fine. Though we'll have to hope the power isn't the same as Charm then. That's really the last thing we'd need.
...Akihiko Sanada. You did listen to the morning news today, didn't you? Or see the articles in the newspaper, dealing with property damage last night in Iwatodai?
You DO realize that having anything Dark Hour related reaching the media is not a goal of ours, correct?
I didn't do it! How do you expect me to destroy a lamppost? Maybe if I tried to with Polydeuces, which I assure you I didn't! My Evoker was still holstered when it happened.
Wait, was that true? He certainly couldn't remember drawing it before the lamppost was destroyed. Akihiko rereads her post, growing angry now that the initial shock has worn off.
I saw the articles. But I'm not stupid, Mitsuru. Of course we try to keep everything under wraps. I've been doing this for almost three years now - since when did I ever run around and just destroy things?
...No, I suppose that isn't something that you'd do, intentionally at least. But still, I wish that we could have avoided a battle that would end up leaving evidence behind. If this continues, there'll be widespread panic in the city; keeping a lower profile then usual, while investigating the incidents, sounds like the best idea right now.
I think it would be good to start taking measures towards that right now; the next time you feel the need to go on a patrol, I'll be going with you. Or assigning one of the others to help.
Akihiko frowns at the screen. Even if he can agree with the logic, it still feels like he's getting babysat. Assigning one of the juniors, tch!
...Are you accusing me of not having control over my Persona?
He deletes that sentence after rereading it. If Mitsuru actually thought that was an issue, she'd probably come right out and say it. And there's too much baggage attached to that idea for baseless accusations.
Didn't you want to step up our patrols and investigation? ...I won't go off on my own, but we'll have to figure something out. If there is so new Shadow out there, I don't want to let it roam the city longer than necessary.
I did. But I don't think that equals stirring the city into a fit of paranoia, and leaving property damage behind every Dark Hour.
And that's why I offered to go with you. If there is a new Shadow appearing, we can't afford taking unnecessary risks. At least this way, we'll be able to watch each other's backs while we investigate. I don't think I need to reiterate how we'll stand a better chance together instead of one on one if it comes down to combat.
I can't disagree with that. I wasn't trying to, either. And if it's the fault of the Shadow, that's one more reason we should get rid of it sooner rather than later.
No, you don't have to. Damn it, I wish I could remember more. Then we could have a better idea of what we're up against.
Tonight would be best; like you said, the sooner we can find out what we're up against and contain it, the better. It might even jog your memory a bit, if we head out tonight.
I'd suggest the usual meeting time; about twenty minutes before midnight. That should give us enough time to get well outside the dorm before the Dark Hour arrives.
One can almost hear the sigh on the other side of the computer screen, followed by Mitsuru shaking her head.
First thing's first, though. Are you certain that you don't have any bad injuries? And what were the extent of the ones you did sustain?

I'll be there. And hey, at least we know for a fact where things started last night. Think that would be a good starting point?
