021 - on the apocalypse and broccoli

The number 666, also known as the beast number, oddly enough has some minor significance in mathematics, though I do not see the reason why. Any number which has 666 digits is also called an apocalyptic number. How this is particularly significant, I fail to see, however, it seems to be of interest to younger students. Perhaps they have too much time on their hands during number theory.

The fourth of July comes around tomorrow. I assume that there shall be fireworks, and in fact have been notified of some event occurring on and/or in the building. I suppose I shall have to deal with that, so long as the building is not burnt to a crisp or otherwise destroyed.

It was nice to have had a day off, especially with the weather so nice. Early mornings are perfect for a quiet contemplative walk in the park. It would be nice to do that more often, and I shall take that into consideration, perhaps on the way to campus or on the way back, weather permitting.

The grocery stores were a mess, the butcher section quite overrun with people wanting ribs and hamburgers and the like. Unsurprising. I ought to have gone earlier in the week, but was a trifle preoccupied this weekend. Rukia shall be pleased to know that we have broccoli and not beans for dinner this week.
