Online Dating, Oksowhat?

It's crammed down our throats again and again.  When meeting people from the internet do so safely or don't do it at all.  We're told over and over again that some percentage of women are raped and murdered by a date met on the internet.  Warnings galore exist than men on dating sites could never possibly be who they say they are.  The negative stigma is enormous.

Well, I say phooey on that.

Of course there are dangers.  There are also dangers walking out your front door, driving to work, and dating that office guy you work with.  Of course I suggest being careful.

I signed up to OkCupid for shits and giggles.  I wasn't looking for anything, just wanted to point at laugh at the losers on the site.  Well, I may have found something.  He's quite possibly the nicest person I've ever had the pleasure of talking to.  He just seems to genuinely care about people in general.  I'm not used to people putting my wants above theirs; this is incredibly new and novel to me.  The fact that he's absolutely adorable is just another plus.  I'm not even honestly sure what I was looking for when I signed up, but I'm not going to punch a gift horse in the mouth.

And if he were looking for someone to rape and murder I'm sure there are plenty of closer women in Queens that he wouldn't have to drive an hour to see.

Yes, dating in general is dangerous, but don't look down on mine because we met online.  I connect with him better than I do with most people and I haven't even met him in person yet.  Isn't that better than going on a blind date that you're friend sets up, without knowing if any chemistry will exist at all?

Lens is excited for this weekend.  =)
