In Playwriting today, I was supposed to write about what I fear the most. But in the process of trying to explain myself in writing, it dawned on me that, to me, there is a distinction between being scared and being afraid. To me, being afraid involves a little more anxiety and being scared is a more physical state of being.
You are scared that something will happen to you. You are afraid that something will happen to someone you care about.
Is this true for anyone else? Or is this strictly a me thing?
Or, are there any other synonyms that mean something very clearly different to you but appear to mean the same thing to everyone else?
