Disguising Your Type
Does anyone else tend to not act like an INTJ in public or in social gatherings with your family members and/or friends?
My father, who is an INTJ as well, does this all the time as he fakes being ESXJ. The reason is that he doesn't get hassled by my ESTJ mother for being unsociable and mean to the guests. He advises me to do the same.
I'm having extreme difficulty in doing so. I do not know how to act like anything but myself. When I try to start conversation with no purpose with some, it ends with them telling my mother that I was being patronizing towards them or that I was arguing and my mother giving me an hour long lecture in which she tells me that I am an absolute "weirdo", that I will never get married, and I will die alone.
This is when I envy my ISTJ brother who can is usually the center of attention and still manages to get some quiet time.
