The stars gleam, the poets dream

ZOMG. Just got back from Rent.

Shoe and I were going to go see it on our date, but we decided to see Chronicles of Narnia instead, so I went to see it with 'Manda. It was the best thing I have seen in theatres since Ocean's Eleven. (And probably better than that, but that was the last "Wow" movie I remember seeing.) Blows Chicago out of the water. And it's the only movie I have ever seen where I bawled my eyes out through pretty much the entire second half. (Shoe: "But you knew what was going to happen." Again, so glad I was with a chick who was also crying loudly and not with my husband who gives me funny looks when I do that.)

Go go go. Now. Seriously. Don't wait.

Non-movie highlight: before the movie started I told 'manda that the large extended Alabamanian families who wandered in were in for a big surprise if they were here because they thought it was a good ol'-fashioned family musical from the previews. In the middle of La Vie Boheme-- this is AFTER all of the crotch shots as Mimi sang "Take me out tonight" while stripping, and after Maureen mooned (bare-assed) the camera at the beginning of the song-- one of those families got up and left loudly. I think it was after the lyrics "Sodomy, it's between God and Me, to S&M!" and Collins forced his drag-queen boyfriend to his knees in front of him, and then mock-slapped him across the face.

I want to see it again. The movie, though the hick exodus was funny too.
