[He sounds tired, and vaguely in pain, but his voice is determined]
From what I've been able to gather, earlier today a citizen of Manhattan who had been suffering from a crab bite underwent a mutation that transformed them into a creature similar to the ones that have destroyed this city. I know this knowledge has frightened, angered, and disturbed many of us, myself included.
Now, however, is not the time to start panicking and running around lashing out. I'm not advocating putting our heads in the sand, but let's face facts, people have organized crab hunts before, some of them massive, and it's total effect has been temporary at best. I've been in those tunnels many times, and there's no telling how many are down there.
[Brief pause]
Now, I'm sure you're all thinking, 'well great Harry, way to be a depressing jerk with no real answers,' but there you would be wrong. I'm not suggesting we do nothing, just that we do what we can. First off, everyone with a crab bite get to Aya's clinic now. She is absolutely right in that no matter what the reason, people with bites need to be healed. Not doing so, or failing to heal someone for personal reasons, is going to put everyone at risk and I will personally find a way to kick your ass if you don't.
Secondly, we need to organize regular patrols of this city once again. While our police force and private groups have done a great job, the fact is there are too many people here for us to protect them by just running around on our own. A lot of us are used to working on our own back home, I know I am, but this isn't home, this is some place new, and we need to adapt and deal.
Now, while the patrols can help with crabs, we also need to find a way to contain some of the population, and I'm open to suggestions. I know it's tempting to just go out and kill as many as possible, but that will expose even more people to bites, and be a temporary solution. We need a long term plan to deal with this, or we're going to run into this problem again a few weeks or months down the line.
Patrols will move in teams of two, and respond to protect citizens from crabs and other threats. Aya, Zero, and Mia are all right in that we need to be organized if we're going to make it through this. This is still a city with a large population, but it's one that has been stripped of all organizational structures that make it possible for so many people to live together in an urban area.
I'm not proposing a new government, that will possibly bring more problems than it will solve, and I sure as hell don't claim to know how to run anything, but I do know that we have survived here for nine months by working together against impossible odds. Just weeks ago some of you penetrated the most dangerous place on the island by working together. I'm asking you now to volunteer to work together to keep each other safe. For those who wish to protect others, do it because it's the right thing to do, and for those with other motive, do it because it's the best chance for you to survive.
I know this sounds all flowers and puppies and utter nonsense, but I've seen some amazing things in this city, and I think we can do this.
I'm going to the precinct to see what I can do to help. Anyone interested in volunteering please contact me there, and we can coordinate with the police force.
We've surprised these bastards before, let's show them how good at surprising them we've become.
(OOC: I'm actually willing to organize a patrol schedule if people want to, feel free to comment here if your character would, and I'll whip something up)
