People are addicted to life because they haven't been to rehab yet. It is from this addiction they find life so empty and unfulfilling. They seek to be clean of the dependency but don't know where or how, so they wander aimlessly in the sea of their "need". But what is "need" truly? It is an illusion of the human condition. If there is one thing that fasting, meditation, and acts of Will show us, it's that "need" is just a Tower we doomed to be imprisoned inside of until it crumbles with the passing of Time. For you see, people live only because they know no other alternative, not because they truly desire it. It is through "death" that they learn to truly desire life. But what is "death" truly? It is a grand change in the individual that arises from the act of integrating a profound experience, not of the biological nature rest assured, but rather the kind you see in Black Armor carrying the Flag of the Rose. This is not to forbid any indulgence, to take up a life of self induced poverty and starvation, for remember the lesson of the Middle Way that Siddhartha learned under that Great tree. This is not to forbid any act of Asceticism, to take up a life of meaningless materialism and push around the lives of others for a profit, for even the blindest of blind Men can see how well that has served our society. Do not seek harmony and balance out of fear, for fear is the mind killer. Seek it because you acknowledge the responsibility that you owe yourself as a God or Goddess to raise yourself to a level of being where you no longer need to be controlled by biological responses or outdated concepts of "sin", and are ready to Let Go. But knowing that there is a fine line between overindulgence and self mortification, how does one get the courage and virtue to stand testament to balance? It is only through a series of injections consisting of the correct dosages of experience, applied knowledge, and acts of Will that allow one to truly stop living their lives out of addiction and "need", and start drinking life out of pleasure and curiosity.
