Whenever I find a new song, this beautiful thing happens to me.
A sudden surge of emotions starts at the heels of my feet and pulses up through my calves, thighs, hips, and into my stomach. The hair on the back of my neck stands up. My fingers shake. My mind flies in five different directions, yet all directions make sense to me at that time. It's amazing and mesmerizing.
I start to see colours as the feeling in my stomach starts to dissipate. Pinks, yellows and greens dance around in my head. About two-thirds into the song, the feelings and colours vanish, leaving me almost breathless.
That is when it happens.
The sudden surge of courage that had snuck by my heels, thighs, stomach, twists its way around my heart and squeezes. I suddenly feel as if I could do anything. I could dance. I could sing, I could fly if I wanted.
And the song ends, all of these feelings disappear, leaving me an empty shell and begging for more.
