Reciprocity.
I just found a paper that addresses a section of my thesis; Google Scholar informed me that I've clicked on it before. The reason why, it turns out, is that this paper cites me. Namely, my undergrad thesis, published obscurely in a volume of proceedings papers from 2011.
My undergrad and doctoral theses have relatively little to do with each other: they're both about subordination and linguistic change in English, but still, that's a pretty broad area, and I wouldn't have expected this to happen. I think I've just come full-circle, academically speaking.
