I recently downloaded the song "Martha (Cincinnati, 1914)" by one of those very many power-pop indie-bands I like, The Corner Laughers. From the title, I expected lyrics about a First World War romance. I think my favourite part is that the band doesn't explain it anywhere. Just leaves it as it is, and if it goes over some fans' heads, then fine. Leaves me looking askance at the rest of my music collection and wondering how many more there are that I just never picked up on.

* laughs * I was thinking as I posted this about which LJ friends would get a kick out of it, and ultimately decided the answer was 'three, as long as dr_whom isn't temporarily burned-out when it comes to puzzles'. :D

Actually, scratch that. Turns out the band mentions it on their main Bandcamp page. Glad I didn't notice that before I listened to the song!
