title - A Dunphy Family Christmas. part 1/?

warnings - This is a work in progress. I've never written a multi-part fic, so I hope this goes alright and I update in a timely manner.
summary - Phil, Claire, and the rest of the Dunphy family spend a Christmas together.
The tree had been put up, the halls were decked out with holly, and other holiday cheer-ish things set about. The camera cuts to the couch. Phil Dunphy is sneakily crouching in front of the couch
He whispers "They'll never know what hit them" while lifting a brand new Nerf Gun from underneath the couch.
Cut to Claire standing outside the house " Well, Phil keeps trying to start a new family tradition. So, he's the only one who ever actually uses the Nerf Guns. Why couldn't he just settle for pajamas as a Christmas Eve present?"
Claire smiles to herself, because she doens't need an answer. That's just Phil, and she loves him for it no matter what her body may tell you.
"Well, I'm off to the store... to buy some last minute... things."
Cut to Claire sneaking into the car without her husband and children noticing. In her silence, Claire breathes out "Alone at last"
A rustling can be heard from the back seat. Claire's breathe hitches.
"Hey mom! Where we off to? Luke exclaims from the back seat.
Claire turns around and yells " Frak noodles, Luke! How did you get in here?"
Timidly, Luke replies "Uhm, I never went inside last night" Now a little flabbergasted yet expecting, Claire replies "So, you were in the car all night?"
Excitedly, Luke answers "Yeah, and it was awesome!"
"Okay? I'm gonna take you home now"
I HOUR LATER.
Claire stands in the middle of the Nerf Gun section at Toys R' Us. She runs her fingers along the boxes of the Nerf Guns. Finally, she picks the biggest one she can find and lifts it up and out of the shelf. She grins " This will show him"
FLASHFORWARD to the Dunphy clan sitting in the living room in their pajamas. Haley has her phone in her hands, headphones plugged in, and is watching something inappropriate while Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is playing in the background. Alex alternates between reading her book and reading the subtitles off her sisters video(the video has subtitles because Haley can't turn the sound up too much and wants to know everything that is going down.) Luke somehow has gotten his arms stuck in his pajamas, which are a pair of footed pajamas he wouldn't get rid of.
Part 2 should be more about the Christmas Eve and I might write something about the day as well.
