☣ how the game works [UPDATED: 12/29/2007]

Characters have been pulled from their own universe via the power of Silent Hill. When they are not so disoriented they find themselves in a ghost town that's covered in a thick fog. The littlest of sounds can unnerve even the manliest of men. Friends and family may or may not be in the town as well.

The town is bored. All others who has passed through it came out alive, survived and left.

Reality is distorted in Silent Hill. Monsters roam buildings and the street though not all people will see the same kind of creatures, for Silent Hill feeds off a person's mentality and fears and psyche. If in a group, one person may see a creature while another may not.

...or, perhaps, the person is just crazy and attacking nothing but air. But air can't bleed, can it?

No. It cannot.

...the town also changes at night. A siren will sound and that is key warning to the change taking place. The town becomes darker, more grungy. Buildings are more destroyed than usual. The insides of such buildings are a tangle of fleshy walls and mesh floors.

Careful, though, the monsters are far more vicious in this "Otherworld."

☢ Going by Silent Hill canon, the game takes place before Silent Hill 3.

☣ Posting in the main comm works like a community of sorts. When the character arrives in Silent Hill they will find a flashlight, radio, and a phone (something resembling that of a Sidekick) waiting for them. All three wrapped in paper with the words "Welcome to your wildest dreams." written in splotchy red paint(?).
---- RADIO: If there are monsters around (harmeless AND non-harmless) the radio will pick up static and go haywire. It is your only real warning of an attack.
---- FLASHLIGHT: Lights up the dark and it perfect for those places with dark corners~ Monsters are also attracted to the light. It makes it easier for them to see you ♥
---- PHONE: The phone that the characters find connect them to everyone in the town of Silent Hill. They will also, upon opening, find that it will automatically take them to a message board. There they can either type a post or speak into the phone and it will make a dictated post for them. The phone will also, if a voice post is being made, pick up sounds in the background.
FOR NON-HUMAN CHARACTERS the phone & radio they receive is special. They will find it already, somehow, attached to their body (via a collar around the neck or something easier to wear). Inside the phone is a special kind of chip that will allow for them to make posts (dictated or written) -- if dictated then either growls or other noises will be heard, if 'written' then the sounds said non-human will translate into what they want to say.
CALLING SOMEONE may seem easy as, once you talk to that person over the message board, their number is automatically listed in the phone. However~ Calling that person is not as simple as one may think because, who knows, maybe one thing you say is not what the other person hears. And vice-versa.
the town loves to play tricks on people...after all.
