Stumbled across this fandom project on Tumblr and I wanted to signal boost it! Such a great cause for increasing accessibility for fanworks.

Let us present to you: The “In the Flesh translation project”

As the fleshdom grows bigger and bigger, the fans gladly get more and more fanfiction. Most of the fanfiction of this fandom is in english. That’s great as english is the primary language tumblr communicates in, but there are loads of fans out there who would be more than happy to be able to read the fanfiction in their mother-language, especially those fans who aren’t fluent in english or don’t feel comfortable reading in it.

What is this project about?

The participants of this project will translate various “In the flesh” fanfics into various other languages. That’s it basically! We want to make this fandom a place in which fans of every nation can feel welcome, and in which every fan, regardles of their first language, can enjoy their stay.

The translated fanfictions will later be posted not only on tumblr but also on this blog’s ao3 account, which will be made for this project. The original author and translators will both be credited in every case.

You can enter as:

A translator, in which case you have to be bi-/multilingual OR fluent in english and another language. Idealy the language you translate into is your mother tongue, but you are also fluent in english. If you are entering as a translator, please include in your message:
  • The language you’ll like to translate to and your level in that language and in english
  • The maximum of fanfiction you’d like to translate
  • The maximum wordcount that the fics you translate may have
  • Any no-goes concerning fics that you don’t want to translate (eg. a specific rating, specific pairings…)

An original author, in which case you provide your already written fanfiction to be translated into other languages. Your “profit” trough this project is that you may very well gain new readers. If you are entering as an original author, please include in your message:
  • A link to the fanfiction you provide to be translated
  • Basic information on your fanfic: Wordcount, Rating, Characters, Pairings and a quick summary

A co-translator/betareader, in which case you help the translator with their translation, help them with questions, problems, possible improvements… Please include the same information in your message as if you were applying as a translator.

The deadline to entry the project is Feburary 10th. If you succesfully entered, you will recive an answer to your entry on February 11th ;)
