He is very persistant sometimes.

Maybe he's still a puppy, or a puppy at heart.

Enjoying him, at least?

He is [pause to think of a polite word] frustrating.

And you tried playing with him?

Yes. He does not appear to grasp basic concepts well.

Well, what did you try?

Someone suggested 'fetch'. The dog does not appear capable of following the trajectory after I throw the ball, however.

Huh. Did you have his eyes checked?

Though some dogs just don't do fetch. You could always just pet him.

[pause. He hasn't actually considered that his dog might just be vision impaired, not stupid. Too bad his first guess was right]

How does one check a dog's vision?

I'd assume the same way one checks a human's. Check and see how their eyes respond to light, to movement, if they focus or not close up and at a distance. You might try inquiring at the clinic or the animal shelter for ideas.

I will look into it.

Perhaps he has a message to convey to us.

Perhaps. Thus far it appears to be 'I enjoy licking things.'

A crucially important message, if you are a dog.

Not one of use to the rest of us, however.
