It appears that my monitor has soiled the proverbial bed for good, so little or no posting until I can scrounge a replacement. New is so not in the budget this month, so any leads on used, cheap or free monitors that will work with a Mac appreciated.

Condensed version of the past week:

Last Sunday: very awesome cycle ride on the R80 with Joseph on his Sportster. We took a beautiful meandering backroads route across Connecticut, into New York up to the Hudson. A fine day of riding, conversation and food with an old friend was good for the soul. It cleared my head and brought me joy at levels not known for far too long. The BMW ran well and topped 90mph without handling twitchy at one point when I was dodging semis on the way home. Not bad for a 24-year-old bike that has been severely wrecked at least once and still has the wrong spark plugs in it. It's a damn money pit, but I'm smitten now.

Monday-Thursday: I felt as if I had stood up too fast on Sunday night and the resulting head rush lasted four days.
Doctor gave me script for antidepressant. Still not sure if/when I will use it.

Friday: took the day off, rested (so needed that), took bus to Danbury to retrieve R80 (I'll explain later) saw excellent guitarist that evening at La Paloma. Imagine the percussive playing of Ani DiFranco, only more Spanish (Ani DiFlamenco?) being played by a 4' 6" tall Puerto Rican man with the thin face and long, full dreads of Bob Marley. His accompanist was playing an acoustic guitar through a wah-wah pedal. It was odd and wonderful.

Saturday: Elm City Scooter Club rally in New Haven. Left Hartford late and made it there just in time for another beautiful day of riding, only slower and much smokier. Had better-than-average rally food and got very bored at bar. Slept rather well on Brad's comfy couch.

Sunday: Rally brunch followed by me riding Skajaj to Danbury via Route 34 (another beautiful road) for Cliff's BMW Octoberfest, where I ate too much cake and spoke to the all-knowing guru of BMW's. He told me to find a new frame for my bike, as it has been messed with beyond the point of correction. Uggh. I strapped the spare fork for the R80 across the lower legshield of Skajaj and made my ridiculous way home via some of the same roads I had ridden a week earlier with Joseph, only slower and much hokier. Saw a stunning 1929 Stutz phaeton and a road-worn Indian Chief in Litchfield center in among boring late model Ferraris and Porsches.

Monday: Best Monday I've had in a while. Didn't feel nearly as wiped out as usual. Went to La Paloma's Monday night open mic poetry for the first time in ages, and even managed to read a work in progress despite being so nervous my legs were shaking. Who was it who said you should do something every day that scares you?

Today: Injection #24 of 48. I'm halfway there. Otherwise benign to lackluster.
