Two of Two.

Yesterday was the live taping of the final Gimme the Mike episode. It was the episode in which the one person won all those fabulous prizes, and even though none of you who read this see KSAT, I still can't tell. You're devastated, I can tell.

Anyway, It was really very interesting to see behind the scenes of this show taping. It took so so many people behind the scenes to make it happen. I spent most of the day before the show with the producer people (the KSAT people), and I spent show time helping the lighting guy. It was a wonderful experience.

One time, when I was in eighth grade (grade eight for the Canadians), our junior high band was invited to march one dance team-type tune with the high school people. It was optional, and since I was so introverted I decided to stay home. When my mom found out about it, I told her I stayed home 'cause I "thought I might be too tired the next morning." And when I was about eight, there was this cutie high schooler who was a student aide in my G.T. class. At one football game, I visited him while he was in the stands with the band. He told me that he had to leave for just a minute, but when he got back, I could play his snare drum. As soon as he was gone, I left. I was scared that if I played I would do it wrong and mess everything up.

Why did I take you all into that dark alley? Because last night I realized that I'm not that person anymore. I'm less introverted and less of a perfectionist and more willing to try things. Last night, after the taping, the KSAT people invited me to go with them to the post-show wrap up. BAr stuff. Hell, I'm 21. I'm due. So I went. I thought once about not going. (That nagging bit of self-doubt.) But it was great. And there were some famous people there, too, who liked giving hugs. I guess that's what you do in L.A. Anyway, I also talked to a drunked executive of a rental car company. It took him five minutes to tell me that he looks for employees who are diverse in their creative talents. It was a cool night.

Very cool. I love KSAT. I loved it before the glitzy stuff. This has been one of the most enriching and fulfilling summers I've had in a very long time. Maybe ever.
