I listened to Pedro the Lion a lot while I was gone. Oddly enough (or maybe not oddly at all), the tones in the Hard to Find a Friend matched the rural, pensive country out West. No, no. Not California. West Texas. I may have left my heart in San Francisco, but I left my wallet in Midland. What went around (that's coming back around) was my attitude of West Texans in general. I think it's a defence mechanism because I lived in that kind of place for so long. I want to separate myself from the ways of widespread rural life. Hick-ness, I suppose. And to be fair to myself (which is something everyone should do once in awhile), I did try smiling to people the way people smile at one another here.

No dice.

I think they could tell I came from a land down under...I-20.

I'm going to bed so I can wake up and cancel / replace stuff.

I'm going to dream of exaggerated accents and big West Texas hair tonight. (I'll probably wake up to discover my tires have gone flat, just because I made that statement.)

Goodnight.
