...am I the only person who thinks $9,000.00 is not a "
budget wedding"?
I refuse to drop that kind of money on one day when it could go towards our education and a house.
What the hell are we going to do?
Please don't be upset if we just elope and don't have the totally awesome wedding we wanted.

I'll def. let you know if we'd like you to cater, though we're already getting a decent deal through my mom's friend. And it's not the ceremony that costs; it's the celebration part! That's what we're trying to deal with.

Nicole keeps throwing out "Chinese Buffet!" as an idea, and I'm starting to actually consider it. lol
Maybe brunch is cheaper. Do a morning ceremony and then a brunch thing. Or nothing. I don't know.

i cannot believe that's a budget wedding.

It's the renting/catering/dj'ing/photographing that costs all the money! That's the stuff from which I would like to elope. The ceremony is basically free for the most part. I don't know. As a girl who was raised to think weddings are an absolute waste of money, I'm finding it hard to reconcile any desire to drop more than a grand on one day out of my entire life.

but see, I bet you have friends who can do all that costly stuff cheap and there are cheaper places you could rent. you could even do a big cookout or potluck or something. I know how you feel, though. thinking of paying for all of that makes you feel pretty helpless and really poor. . .or at least that's how it was for me. if you want help, I had some pretty good ways to save money. if you decide you want the celebration, I'd be happy to help if I can.
