Hermione grabbed up her basket of flowers with shaky fingers, thumbing the ribbed handle nervously. She stepped towards Draco, inching up close enough to reach out and touch the velvety lapels of his crimson jacket. He smirked down at her, flashing her a blatant and rather alarming wink. She’d gone over this so many times in her mind she thought she’d go crazy.
Just do it.
She drew her head back and let her eyes flutter shut, waiting for…for…
His lips crashed onto hers in an incredible fervor, snatching the breath from them in an instant. Hermione’s knees wobbled. She feared she’d fall if he moved away. Hell, she was practically leaning on him. His tongue swept her lips. A tiny but rather desperate corner of her mind screeched, reminding her to breathe. Draco broke the kiss.
“Alright guys!” Luna Lovegood stood up from her chair in the audience, a pencil behind her ear and a battered old clipboard under her left arm. “That was great! We should be ready for opening night Friday! If you could just run it through one more time…”
Hermione groaned inwardly.
It was going to be an infuriatingly long, breathless night.
