Japan Update One

I'm here. Yesterday (Saturday) we woke up early and caught a train to the fish market. There were a lot of fish. They were cutting tuna up with a special jigsaw, but it was okay because the tuna had been thoroughly frozen and were cutting like a piece of wood. One of the guys had an eyepatch. Like a pirate. Pictures were taken.

After that, we tried to call Chook, but he was "running errands". I think he got a booty call, but that's just me. We then went to the Panasonic Center. It was a great big showroom-type dealio for showing off all of Panasonic's new gizmos. There were cameras and phones and dvd players and gigantic touch screens. They were showing off the future in one room, but we kept missing it. Gut got scolded for taking pictures. No pictures were taken. "The English tour guide will be opened at 4:30." We had very grizzly images surrounding this opening.

On the train ride to and from this locale, we saw very odd buildings, like the one with the ball on top and the one with a ball smashed through it. We surmised that the ball on top of the building was not the original. There was also a TV studio that was built with a hole in the middle. We were confused. I think we took pictures. We stopped by the grocery store on the way home and bought 8 tons of snacks. The old lady at the cash register did not give us disapproving looks despite her perogative to do so. I stopped by a used CD shop and got my ladytype a Ghost in the Shell 2 soundtrack. I hope it fits.

We then went back to the apartment to watch Sumo. It was very interesting, but seemed to be mostly posturing. Granted, what action we did see was pretty cool. Japanese sports are cool. Chook came over then and we chatted. Then we all went for Yakisoba and Okonomiyaki. The former was good, but the latter was just okay. We then went out to the bright lights area of Ikebukuro. This was crazy. There were so many young people wandering around that it was scary. We stopped at a Tokyu Hands shop. It was like a multi-story target with a single floor of Hot Topic jammed in. We then went to a Gamers shop and I was unimpressed. On the way back down I learned that I am scary. I can only imagine how an individual such as Lem would be reacted to.

Then we went home because I'm a jet lagged bitch. More later.
