(no subject)
My spring break pretty much began last weekend. Although I guess it wasn't much of a break. My grandmother (Grandmum) passed away on Friday. She had Alzheimer's for a few years and I guess her body just finally wore out. My dad called me early in the day to tell me that it was probably going to be the end and then that afternoon during my dance practice he left a message. When I called him back he told me. I haven't really told anyone...people in my sorority know and then of course Nick. Other than that...it's not something I really want to talk about..which is why I'm writing it in my livejournal. I know grandmothers are supposed to go eventually. Anyway...her funeral was Monday and the burial Tuesday. I spoke at both. It was the hardest thing I've ever gone through I guess because it's the first person I've been close with that I've lost. The funeral was uplifting if a funeral can even be described as that. We laughed and cried. And that's all I want to say about it.
I had to write about that...b/c it would be weird if I didn't tell you (Jocelyn)---but on the phone the other day I didnt want to think about.
Anyway...something else I had to tell you...a man at the funeral that my Grandmother used to work for was talking with us and my mom asked if he had any children. One daughter...a lawyer who graduated from Penn State--she's 25 and also a stepson. What does the stepson do??? Well, he is in a band. SISTER HAZEL. The bassist. Weird, huh? Of course I was excited about that. SOOOO.....at the next show--that you will definitely be going to with me he said he'd orchestrate something so we could meet the band.
That's it for now. I'm so relieved I have no school for another week. And next Thursday....I go to New York with my fabulous Mom and Sissy.
