It is the dreariest December I have spent here in Reykjavik. It's like Winter failed to arrive, but Autumn had already left, so we have this grey nothing of a season. Every day at 3 the sky shifts from light grey to a dim, unsettled orange, like the glow of a coal buried under ash, and everything seems spooky and otherworldly in a way that automatic white balance renders completely invisible on cell phone cameras. By four it's dark, and the human world can assert itself more forcefully. All the trees are lit up and shining cheerfully into the drizzle and it can't but make you smile.

In ten days, I will be on stage, performing a dance acro act I developed, wrote and choreographed together with my partner.
