I'm walking down Hayes street, past some coffee shop.
I see two guys sitting outside amongst some other cafe goers, but it's not the guys I notice, it's their large white musical notation notepads...
I think, "oh cool, they must be composing something."
I look up at their faces and without thinking, my mouth opens, I'm about to shout, "It's Philip Fucking Glass!!!", and at the same time, he makes eye contact with me.
I close my mouth before a sound comes out, put my hands together in prayer position at my chest, and bow halfway, Japanese style.
He grins and nods his head... respect given, acknowledgment received... a truly perfect moment.
I walk away and feel totally energized and inspired. It was especially great to see him while he was working on his craft too. Here's a super crappy pic of the scene from my zoomed in camera phone...
I'll get to see him twice over the next two months
here and
here. I wonder if he lives in SF now?

So in the last year or two I've come into contact with Eno, Cat Power, David Byrne, and Glass... the gods must be trying to tell me something!
