If you're new to Mind Camp, it's a 24 hour free-for-all where 150-ish people get together and give talks, workshops, etc on stuff their interested in... so it completely depends on who's attending to dictate what the event will be like. I know it sound chaotic (and it is to some degree), but the organizers do place some structure so that attendees can get the most out of the experience. It's also not required that you stay the full 24 hours, that part is up to you of course.
What is required is that you actively participate (which doesn't necessarily mean you have to give a talk)... to me it just means that you engage in the discussions and have something to contribute. I'd especially love to see non-internet nerd types there just to keep things interesting.
This one is being held at the
Youngstown Cultural Arts Center which is a totally bad ass space (old elementary school converted into an artist loft space).
DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS, IT WILL FILL UP SOON.
$25 bucks gets you in on all the nerding (meals included).
Here are some pics from last year's event.
Some ideas I'm mulling over for 2.0:
- Impromptu classic gaming tournament (Dreamcast, TurboGrafix 16, NES, Atari, PS1, Sega Master System)
- Continuation of my "read me my email in the shower" idea
- More wi-fi Nintendo DS battles
- audio production show n' tell (people bring their favorite audio tools and talk about neat things they've done with them)
- same for photography... like a digital photography hacks session
