She smiles in the worst way <---I love this line and everything it says in so few words. Actually, I love that about this entire story. You pack so much into a few amount of words and it works beautifully.
“Actually, Professor, I killed three.” <---This was the sucker punch line for me. Filius is so resigned and pragmatic in this. It's not the way I usually think about him, in as much as I think about him at all, but it's a brilliant counter-point to the black-and-white morality of some of the other staff.
Also, Madame Pince's backstory and motivations are inspired. knows he would never trust her outside its walls Hogwarts, school for magic and political prison! Oh the wizarding world and it's odd ideas about what should properly go into a school. Still, she was very chilling and a intriguing turn on the character.
