This is brilliant! I loved Susan's voice--"the social graces of a Confunded hippopotamus," "Merlin on a moped"--LOL. :) I also enjoyed your characterization of Terry, especially how such small expressions could mean so much. As someone who has worked in hospitals, I loved the setting for your story. Comatose patients CAN hear, but trying to convince people of that can be difficult. ;) At least it worked out in Susan and Terry's favor. Thank you for such a fun story, MA! :)

*beams* Thank you so much! I'm thrilled you liked their characterizations, as it's always intimidating to work with characters who have only a handful of lines in canon-- not quite blank slates but not enough to really know them. I'm a big fan of the small expressions myself-- I'm more of a Terry than a Susan. :) I'm so glad you enjoyed it-- thank you!

Marvelous! I love your light hand with Susan's dire predicament, because it set the tone for the rest of the story.

Thanks so much! I had to scrap an earlier version that took this scenario far more seriously-- I just couldn't make it work! Once I gave it this much lighter spin it came together much more easily. I'm so glad you liked it! Thank you! :)

This was such an adorable delight to read -- I love anything involving fringe Puffs and Claws and you have such great characterizations for not only Terry and Susan but the cast of supporting characters around them too! I loved Ernie's pompousness and Romilda's incessant teasing, Susan's continued mortification and obliviousness, and Terry's awkwardness. I also thought it was really well done how you tied the whole thing back up to the list of worst days she'd had with one of the few things we know Terry did in canon too! All in all this was a wonderful way to start my morning -- thank you for taking it on and for breathing such life into these characters! ♥

*beams* Thank you so much! I had a lot of fun with these two, and I'm so glad that you liked my take on this whole cast of characters who only have a handful of lines among them in canon! I really enjoyed playing up Ernie and Romilda. :) And I'm glad you appreciated how one of Terry's very few canon actions was tied in! It took a lot of work to get it right, and I was thrilled that you noticed that. Thank you for such a lovely comment!

This made me grin so much. You brought off the hit witch thing for me with Susan (I've never really believed it before) and the whole situation was both sweet and funny. Excellent job!

This is absolutely wonderful. I played in an RPG years ago with a Terry/Susan ship and they've had a special place in my heart ever since. I'm so excited someone chose this prompt and did such a fabulous job with it. From all the adorable expletives, to just the whole structure of it with Susan being trapped and unable to speak until the end.

Bravo, Mystery Author, this was fabulous.

PS: I might have read this like 9 times already. >.> If you upload this to AO3, please let me know. I would love to bookmark it there.

*bounces delightedly* YAY! I'm SO glad that you liked this! I'm a huge fan of creative swearing and I'm quite pleased with how the structure of this worked, too. I knew that you had done these two in an RPG and was therefore SUPER nervous about writing them for your prompt. I finally had to ditch my entire first effort (which took this whole situation a LOT more seriously and was just not working) and started writing that list of reasons why today sucked in an almost Bridget Jones sort of voice-- with Terry as my Mr Darcy-- and suddenly I was off and running! I'm quite pleased with the result and am thrilled that you think I did justice to your prompt! It's always so, so, so lovely to know that the prompter loves your take. (I know it's not specifically a gift, but getting a good comment from the prompter in a prompt fest always makes my day, too!) YAY! I'll definitely be posting it to AO3 sometime soon if you still wanted to bookmark it. But otherwise you know where to find me! :-D

I'm pretty sure I could list this story as my favourite of the fest. >.>

I emailed the link to the person who was the Terry to my Susan and she adored it too.

That is high praise indeed! There were some real gems this year. Thank you! :-D

And I'm so pleased! In some ways it's easier to write minor characters, as you really can't go wrong with them! But in other ways it's a lot harder to try to create an entire person with just the tiny hints we have from canon-- a handful of dialogue and actions. It was fun to work with that. Thanks for giving me such a great prompt to work with, as I don't think I would have chosen to write this pairing if left to my own devices-- and I am so glad I did!
