Byakuya knew it would happen eventually. After many personal battles, long nights of soul-searching and one Hisana dream induced epiphany he strengthened his resolve so that when it did happen he would let it. Yet even with his countless hours of mental preparation, it still managed to surprise him.
Renji’s lips pressed briefly to his in something that seemed more like a fumbling, slapstick accident rather than a kiss. He knew his eyes widened and he knew Renji knew too for he instantly moved a good ten meters away and put his hand on his zanpakuto. He even had enough shame to avert his eyes and blush cutely when Byakuya turned to assess his ‘attacker’. Byakuya felt like he should laugh, a giant earth-shaking belly-injuring giggle, at the thick embarrassing awkwardness of the whole situation or at least slap his forehead at the irony of it all, but he didn’t. The redhead looked scared enough as it was, he might actually kill him with shock if he were to do some thing so uncharacteristically absurd. He made a quick to decision to try to make up for the secret broken promise of being ready for Renji. With his shunpo he was in front on Renji one hand atop Zabimaru to stop him from being drawn and the other hand latched tightly to Renji’s arm before the redhead new what was happening. When he had a proper hold on the vice-captain, he titled his head up and placed a proper kiss on the mouth hanging slightly agape. He let his tongue tease the inside until the mouth finally started to move, and oh did it move. Renji nearly consumed with his needy, raw passion and adoration. He pulled back gently and stepped away. His tattooed subordinate made a reach but quickly pulled back confused.
“Renji-kun, accompany me to my residence, so we may finish our business.” He said and began to walk away. Renji smiled and quickly fell in step behind.
“Right away Kuchiki-tai-” Byakuya glaced quickly over his shoulder and Renji corrected himself. “Byakuya-sama.”
Byakuya doubted he was even remotely prepared for what was going to happen next, but the way Renji was grinning like an idiot behind him made all his worries melt away…well most of them anyway.
