ok, so when i said before that i was signing off, i forgot about [free] hotel internet access. hah!
my bro and i are in the middle of a cross-country road trip via 4-runner. so far we have stayed overnight in chicago, st. louis/st. charles, oklahoma city, santa fe, and now here at the grand canyon in arizona. every stop has been unbelievable, as i told anthony today after watching the sun sink behind the last enormous layer of sedimentary rock, this was meant to be the best road trip ever. we turned around and found a bright, full moon. what are the odds?
walking in 70 degree weather and salsa dancing in downtown chicago, dancing outside in a downpour of rain in missouri with rae in a kid-sized sponge bob pancho, watching high school kids graduate across the street from our hotel in oklahoma city, finding the camouflage adobe houses and listening to native american tribal music in concert in santa fe, witnessing the sunset of a lifetime behind the grand canyon...
i sat on the rocky ledge by the cliffs and said thank-you, for the opportunities past and present, for the people i love and those who love me, and for showing me how to put it all in perspective. an eagle flew from one plateau to another, and i realized how much of a stepping stone life really is.
to balance out this spiritual experience, tomorrow we drive to las vegas- to gamble, catch the cirque du soleil show, and maybe get a few drinks at the bar. rough life.... after that, it's back to san clemente, the coast and just in time for a great surfing swell that my brother claims even i would enjoy despite my subtle fear of wiping out. so i'll be out there on his 7', lying on my back past the sets to get a nice tan and regather my strength to catch the next wave.
law school? school?? i'm going back to school??? and here i thought i was on vacation the past four years...
los angeles/san francisco... either one will be just fine.
