It turns out that "hybrid vigor" is a myth

So my dog has been surgified. She needs more care than we'd anticipated, and one of us may stay home tomorrow to keep an eye on her, though we might take a risk and ask a neighbor to look in. Or maybe the neighbor would just take her for the day, and we can go without guilt? Hmmmmm.

She is currently wearing The Cone of Shame, aka The Elizabethan Collar, to stop her from rubbing at her stitches. It's going to be a while before she gets over this and fully forgives me for the trauma, I can tell.

We decided to spring for the lab to examine the excised material, because no one seems to know what's going on here. Seriously, I've Googled the hell out of it and found nothing, and it's been seen by two vets and countless vet techs, and they keep looking at her and saying "WTF?" (They phrase that more politely, as "unusual presentation", but they say it in a tone of voice that basically means "WTF is wrong with your dog?" which is a bit unnerving. Hence, lab tests.)

M got another award at work. I think they like him.

I've settled down into a space of acceptance regarding the Bastrop evacuees I'm helping out. There's a legitimate worry right now that they're going to end up broke and homeless, but that's not my fault and I can't stop it, nor can I alter the choices they're making. And who knows? Maybe it will all turn out all right in the end.

Edit: The roomie has decided to stay home from the previous plans, so we get to leave Tilly the Tongue with him guilt-free. Yay roomy!

generally uninteresting announcement, not my drama yo, tilly the tongue
