Why would you break into somebody's barn to steal blank CDs?

I wonder if they actually had a vague idea before they broke in that they would find something suspicious.

Or possibly they stole the CDs having broken in looking for something more valuable and then thinking "why would anyone keep all these allegedly blank CDs in a barn?".

I hope nobody ever breaks into my house, steals some blank CDs and then burns kiddie pr0n on them before handing them over to a cop. That would be a really nasty way of getting back at me for my yelling at them to get offa mah lawn earlier that week.

I never would have thought of that, but that's probably closer to the truth than the news story is...that's awful.

I feel both grateful and somewhat disadvantaged that I can't think in devious patterns like a sociopath.
