So I finally managed to pay this specific overdue bill. It's been overdue for at least a month, and that hasn't been entirely my fault, because I have called and left messages for their billing department, which have never been returned.
Today I managed to get someone on the phone and paid the bill, and I clarified why no one in the billing department has ever called me back.
It's because this is a small company that doesn't have a formal billing department. The phone tree doesn't say "for billing, press 1." I've been leaving polite but increasingly peevish messages for Billy, who doesn't actually work in the office.
I asked the receptionist to apologize for me.
