I think it's an excellent idea to think hard about what you'll have tattooed on your body, since it'll be there for the rest of your life -- barring laser removal!
I love talking about my tattoos! I have 4. And I don't have pictures of any of them, how sad is that?
In chronological order:
A multicolored Asian-style phoenix holding a black pearl on my left thigh I got when I was 22. It was drawn by my stepfather after 5 years of begging.
Tribal style phoenix in blackwork on my back in between my shoulder blades I got when I was 25. I found the design in a sketchbook I found in an attic.
Phoenixes are important to me because they represent rebirth through fire. Considering how my life has been, I think they make a fine totem.
Black with blue and purple tribal style armband on my left bicep that I got when I was 27. This was actually a piece of flash that was at my tattoo artist's studio drawn by a friend I had lost touch with for a few years. I got it in honor of him, and also because I wanted a strong armband design that wasn't Celtic.
A palindrome design of my daughter's name on my right forearm that my friend poppagoth did for me, that I got when I was 33. He's also done one of my name (it's my default LJ icon) that I haven't had done but someday I will have it put on my lower back.
Ooooh, pretty! My friend wants to get a few phoenixs as well! I love them too. :)
Wow, those all sound so awesome! I love tattoos! I think they're an awesome representation of art and of the person who gets them! Thanks for sharin! :D

Thanks for letting me talk about my body art!
