Hi Guys!

Yes, it has been eons since I last updated the LJ! How is everyone doing? Hope that all is fine. Summer is now in full swing here in PA. Its as hot as SG in the afternoon, but its slightly cooler in the low 20s in the night. I'm in the middle of summer now... soon it will be Fall semester again!

I have gone to Baltimore, Maryland for a conf in May, and I will be going to Salt Lake City, Utah for another conf in early Aug. The land of the Mormons! Hmmm... I wonder how does a cute mormon look like? Ha..... I heard they have green eyes? I will be staying in the Grand America Hotel which I think has a direct view of the mountains from the 700 sq feet hotel room. Yes, the room is huge! I'm lucky to be staying in a comfortable hotel this trip.

In mid June last month, I made a long weekend trip to visit Chicago alone. I thought it nice to visit the Windy city after hearing so much about it, and I always transit there when I take United Airlines. So why not visit the city itself?

So here are the pictures! ( My laptop keyboard has some issues with the letter key "e". Its a little sticky, so my typing may have some "e" missing!)

The Museum of Science and Industry

Apollo 8 ship (real)                                                                           Twin Human fetus (preserved)

Look at the nice Navy posters! :)

University of Chicago campus                                                Entrance gate to the Biological Science

Walkway to the center of campus.                                               Main entrance to the gym!

Chicago Uni Book Store

Memorial for the invention of the A-bomb. Do u know that it was invented in Uni of Chicago, thanks to Prof Enrico Fermi, in a group headed by Robert Oppenheimer. Uni of Chicago has no engineering dept. The Sciences dept does the engineering research.

This is not an egg.... its stainless steel "Cloud"!
Cool sculpture. Its suppose to capture the  city scenes and compress it into the cloud. Idea came from an Indian sculpter.

Hot Summer day!

This is a concert hall in the Millenium Park. Notice that the acoustic structure is made from metal ! Simply amazing.
There was a rehearsal and music could be heard all around the entire park.

Is Segway popular in SG? Its quite fun!

The Chicago Art Museum.                                                          Adam and Eve.

Chicago Public Library. Absolutely stunning design.

This is a pictorial art work of real Americans suffering the aftermath of war. The wedding picture was heart wreaking when I first saw it. Serves to remind us that peace should never be taken for granted.

Chicago skyline (without Sears Tower)

A lego store that has the entire Chicago skyline in lego!

Do u know that Chicago is next to Lake Michigan? So there is an artificial beach.

Hollywood Beach (aka gay beach) Look at the couple in the waters. So loving.

What is a Chicago trip without exploring the local gay area called Boystown (Halsted Street). I was 2 weeks ahead of Pride Parade... I couldn't come then, cos I will be busy in lab.

Its a very cruisy place, and is also very neat... lots of cute guys running around! :)
And what is Salvation Army doing right in the middle of Boystown!

Even the ad here is gay-orientated..

So here is the pictorial tour of my trip to Chicago! Hope u like it!

Take care guys!
