Mrs World 2006 Fiasco!
Hi Guys,
This year's Mrs World was held in May in St Petersburg, Russia. I saw the recorded telecast today on TV while having my dinner. Usually I don't really watch female pageants, but I was curious who was the S'pore representative, and besides, I always liked the cultural costume segment. I took some pics of my TV, so the quality is bad.
Mrs Russia must be the youngest contestant. She is only 19, and she is married to a rich bizman (no prize for guessing how she got into the contest!)
Mrs Thailand is the only Asian who got into the semi-finals, you go girl !!!
Mrs S'pore.... sigh....wat can I say? You know during the pagaent, they will show recorded segments of the contestants touring St Petersburg, and their numerous activities. Mrs Spore literally threw the country's "face" to the floor twice.
1) The contestants were busy rehearsing a dance which prove to be rather difficult for some of the ladies who are rather mature already. When interviewed, Mrs S'pore said, "They are trying to make us look like monkeys on stage.... "
2) Mrs Spore was actually caught crying backstage on camera! She was accusing some pp of stealing her costume...
Sigh! I wonder if it will ever be telecasted in S'pore, but I bet all these unsightly scenes of her will be censored.
Btw, I think there is 1 segment in this contest that ought to be present in Ms S'pore contest in the future. Cooking! Food is actually one of the segment that gave out points to the contestants! Judging that some str girls cooking skills are worse than PLUs, I think they need to reflect upon this!
The BIGGEST joke of all in this pageant (ultimate nightmare for the organizer) is coming up. At the end, there were only 2 contestants left onstage: Mrs Costa Rica and Mrs Russia. An Israeli woman was onstage, preparing to put the sash on the winner....... The MC announced in English: " The 1st runner up: Mrs Costa Rica, and Mrs World is Mrs Russia!" The Israeli woman placed the "Mrs World" sash on.... Mrs Costa Rica!!!! Can you believe that!!!! And she even placed the tiara on her!!
But since the announcement was made in English, half of the contestants and 99 percent of the audience had no idea that it was all wrong, that Mrs. Costa Rica wasn’t the real winner.
To keep the long story short, the whole final segment had to be reshot again. But the confetti has already fallen on the ground... And Mrs Costa Rica was no where to be seen during the 2nd take of the Mrs World announcement.....
