'Round noon I unexpectedly had opportunity to dig up some extra plant-lines from this Freecycle woman in Los Altos whose oregano plants were overtaking her entire herb garden. Plus, she gave me a couple of rosemary and sage cuttings! I have no idea whether the latter will take root, but for now I have them sticking out of a soil pot. Catch is that basil and oregano like dryness and direct sun after they take, and rosemary likes indirect sunlight, and moisture at least until roots are developed. I think I need to re-pot the oregano into something that drains better, maybe separate the basil from the rosemary pot if they both take. (Doubtful; there's two sprigs of each, so I'm hoping for 1 of 4. Even if not, I can still use what's already on them!)
I didn't have the chance to treat the cutting-ends with MiracleGro or equivalent, because I didn't have any at home, and my unexpected adventure had me running late to meet
traumentwerfer at Barefoot for coffeeshop-wifi. I'm trying to decide whether it's worth pulling them up to do so this evening, as they've been through a lot today; maybe I'll just sprinkle honey-water around the base. (edit: done!)
I've washed my hands twice since, but they (and my car) still smell like herbs. I think I need to go buy a fingernail brush, too. I can't believe how long it's been since I've been grubbing around in the dirt!
