On average, securely attached and dismissive-avoidantly attached men have approximately the same net amount of sex. However, securely attached men have less total partners than dismissive men, tending to stay with the same partner for longer periods of time. Securely attached men report having sex primarily as means of closeness, sharing/communion, and intimacy; dismissive men primarily report having sex to establish dominance, feel in control, and soothe themselves physically. Of course, soothing is probably also occurring with securely attached men, but it's interesting that they conceptualize it in higher terms.
