I used to tell people I was related to Paul Newman when I was younger, but no one believes me anymore. I also used to tell people that my grandfather was "the guy who makes the salad dressing." And this one girl in my fourth grade class was like, "I believe you, you never lie!" Haha. Suckers.
Sorry about not advancing past pre-lims.:\ I'm sure your show was amazing though. We made it to semi-finals this year, which was very exciting because we hadn't made it past pre-lims since 2001 (before I was even in high school!). But as soon as we saw the other shows at semi-finals, we knew there was no chance for us. Our school doesn't have a huge drama budget, so our set is pretty simple and we don't really buy a lot of costume stuff. And the other schools were just insane. I liked going to finals though, because it was really fun to be in the festival atmosphere again, and see people who I remembered from pre-lims and semis.
Your show sounds cool. I'll see if I can make it...depends on how far Westford is from Malden.
-The Newman who's wondering if it's completely necessary to end comments this way, but will probably keep doing it because it's pretty amusing
The 'Ford is like, a half hour away from Stoneham...so I don't really know. But honestly, if you've ever read The Boys Next Door, you should come, because I'm SO PROUD OF IT and if you haven't read it, you should come, because you'll laugh, cry, and feel things you never thought you would. It's absolutely wonderful, and I just...wish I could get everyone I know to come. Our show this year was good, no doubt, but the script was weak and I wasn't as proud of it as other shows we have done that have gotten nipped at semis. We had advanced to semis for the past 3 years, so it was real shock for us not to. Whatevs, I wasn't involved, so it was cool. That is unfortunate about your drama budget. Ours is only approximately 40% funded by the school, for the rest, we have a parent organization that we raise money through. It's pretty neat. Maybe we should start emailing each other instead of this ridiculous chain, at least if you want info on my play. Whatevs, it's cool. I really like the awesome comment chains :) ~The other Newman, who once told a friend she was related to Paul and had her for a while, and then cracked when she asked "So, you like, have the pictures of him bouncing you on his knee..." Yeah, I totally lost it.
