Of stickers and sockets...

To whom it may concern:

The procedure went smoothly - the actual removal itself only took about 15 min. Haha, I don't remember anything after the oral surgeon said as he injected the anesthetic through the IV, "Okay, now here comes the strongest margarita you'll ever have, Samantha!" And a few second later, I said, "Ah, I can feel that margarita alright..." Apparently, the oral surgeon and my mom decided to have some fun and they told me to remember a color. They made me say the color a bajillion times and we supposedly discussed the color for 5 min. The color was purple. I have no memory whatsoever of such a happening. Later, once I was at home and conscious, my mom asked me what color I was told to remember. I, not having the faintest clue, guessed my twin's favorite color - green. My mom got a kick out of that response and the color purple is now a tool for taunting me. Funny thing, memory loss...

The oral surgeon predicted I would have an easy recovery - he was right. I didn't get sick from the anesthetic, I don't have headaches, I didn't swell much at all, if any, I haven't had to take the full dosages of pain medicine (partially because I have a high pain tolerance,) and I don't wake up in the middle of the night with piercing pains in my mouth. Now, of course my mouth is sore and I'm a little drowsy from all the med.s, but I prefer my current state to say, having the flu. Lets just say I've heard some pretty horrific stories from others about wisdom teeth removal and compared to those experiences, mine's a walk in the park. It's nice - sitting in bed all day, finally getting around to reading the hundreds of magazines I've had stashed away in my book case, unread, for years. Coincidentally, I enjoy all the soft foods/drinks - smoothies, pudding, ice cream, and yes, I even love baby food.

At the current moment, I have two moist tea bags shoved in my mouth over the removal sites. They taste good. It feels nice to teeth on them and they also help prevent dry socket.

In conclusion, to all you that have yet to experience the wisdom teeth removal journey: if you do what your oral surgon tells you to do (use ice packs/heat pads, rest, stay hydrated, sit up, use tea bags, etc.) you'll be okay. Although, I do feel like I'm missing something... Perhaps I need Alicia back so she can deliver some stickers to me and then we can watch the movie "Alien" together...

My mom says that maybe I'll be able to have V over on Sunday. That's definitely something I'm looking forward to.

Any minute now, my mom will be returning home from the bookstore with a brand-spanking-new copy of the newest Harry Potter book. I plan on staying up into the wee hours of the night engulfed in that magical world of J. K. Rowling's... Oh! I think I hear the garage door opening! *frisson*

Over and out!
