I got my first bonus at work last night! Woohoo!
The rule is that if a customer feels that they received exemplary service from a rep, they tell said reps supervisor, and then rep gets a bonus. Not a hell of a lot mind you, but still a bonus.
So last night I took a call from this older woman who was wondering why the book order that she had placed had been returned to our warehouse. I looked it up in the system, and discovered that the reason was because when she had provided the university that she works at, whomever the rep was who placed the information into the system had both both her street address, and the college into the address lines, so the UPS driver probably got confused as to where it was supposed to go, and returned it. I explained what had happened to her, and told her that I would remove the college name, and see that her package was re-shipped first thing today. She was so ecstatic that she started praising me for how helpful I had been. I jokingly said "Would you like to speak to my supervisor?", and she immediately came back with "Oh absolutely! I would love to!". So I basically unintentionally (but yaay just the same!) backed myself into my first bonus. She left a three minute message in Rebecca's voicemail (which two other people heard (since Rebecca played it out loud!), in case she tries to say it never happened!) raving about how professional and efficient I was, and what excellent service I provided, and how extremely helpful I was to her. Go me! :-D Rebecca said to expect an email from the head of the company in the next few days, praising my work. I'm going to mention this to Harriet when I go in today, AND tell her that Lorianne and Thad both heard the message as well, just to cover my back. After what she did to Jim, I'm somewhat concerned about how honest she will be about it, and I'm not about to get stiffed out of a bonus! It won't be a huge amount of money, but every little bit helps, AND I'd like to think it will go on my record. Woooo! Needless to say, the evening ended on a rather pleasant note.
Dad is coming up Saturday to bring the computer to me. Yaaaay! He's also helping me get the treadmill that someone is giving me, since I expect it to be heavy, and I will probably need help getting it into my car. Still not sure what's going on for Saturday with Lorianne. I definitely need to talk to her about that, and also so I can get back to Jim and let him know what the plan is, in case he still wants to go with us.
I might get to hang out with Rose and Mark on Memorial day weekend! Wooo! They're going to be in Burlington, so we're going to see if we can get together for lunch or something. I'm hoping to go back to NH in mid-late June, depending completely on how mom feels at that point. With everything going on out there, I'm not surprised that she's feeling drained. I'm just thankful that everyone out there is safe. I talked to her yesterday morning so I know she and Wombat (and I'm hoping and assuming April!) are okay, then Lish and Bret texted me yesterday to let me know that they're okay, and now I know that Rose, Michelle, and Mark are safe too, so I feel much better. Plus I also got a hold of a clearly surprised Frank down in FL, to make sure that he is nowhere near where the wildfires are, and thankfully, he isn't, so that makes it that much better.
I smell toast--- and I don't know why. Furthermore, I smell burnt toast. Oops. Someone in the restaurant downstairs must've burnt some poor, unsuspecting fool's breakfast food! That's sure to hurt the tip!
Today should be interesting. The 'quarterly meeting' starts at 12:30, and they break the C/s reps into groups, so that there is always phone coverage. It's catered (by subway, but still catered!), and someone comes in to talk to us about donating money to whatever their cause is, and I guess they give the bonuses out to those who have been with the company for a year (every year an employee is there, they get another bonus.). At least it will hopefully break up the daily monotony a little bit more.
Thank the gods it's almost Friday!
I must say.. it's nice to spend most of my days feeling content. I like this much more.
