my parents and especially my dad jog a lot at pasir ris park. they'd go there after they've sent sis to school in the morning.
once in a while they'd ask me to follow along. i usually go 'yes yes. wake me up ok'. though i never did manage to wake up. they gave up trying not long after.
recently, something in the park became fodder for much talk and discussion at home. and the pesterings to follow them started again. saying 'use your camera lah. take some pictures'.
and so one morning i really did went.
when we reached the park, the sun was still low in the sky. i was easer for some sunrise pictures. they're rarer in my photo album because i almost never wake up that early for a photography jaunt.
when i spotted the sun looming low gloriously over the horizon, i sprinted towards the beach and began shooting away. this sight above, greeted me. amazing. (i was wheezing while shooting. the last time i ran was err in december and oh yeah that time when i ran for the bus).
homage to the sun.
i like living in this part of the small island we call home. lovely sunrises and sunsets are just a few minutes away from home.
here the morning sun looms over the shipyard.
i'm just a sucker for these kind of scenes.
soon it was time to go off look for the parents. they lost patience with my photo taking and had went off for their jog. i bade farewell to the sun and the ships and went of looking for the elusive object and yeah parents.
i fast walked over the many bridges of the park (parents were nowhere in sight) looking and looking. and just as i was about to give up. i saw not one but two of them!
see that furthest branch that joins the two banks of the river?
can you spot the two of them on the branch?
hahaha. yes. those monitor lizards tanning on the branch are the things my parents were excited about. it is amazing how lizards that big can climb branches that narrow.
at this point i was wishing for a zoom lens with longer reach.
not long after, parents were found and apparently they spotted more lounging on other branches. we wondered whether this was a normal thing for other monitor lizards elsewhere.
the sunrise, branch climbing monitor lizards, loved ones, nice weather, blue skies. it was quite a day.
