October 18th 2008, my first 100 mile bike ride.It was only 10 months ago when Adam called me up and we rode to Hawthorne and back (around 30 miles). That Hawthorne ride nearly killed me, by the end of it I could barely hold 6mph, the next two days were spent recovering.
I'm so very proud of myself, I trained hard for a good 6 months before the century and it certainly paid off. My goal was to complete the century in under 6 hrs total time and under 5hrs40min ride time (I knew it wouldn't be feasible to ride 100 miles without stopping for food and water).
My actual time was 5hrs 1min for total time and 4hrs48min for ride time. Average speed for the ride was 20.9mph.
My running game however, is not half as impressive. Did around 3 miles in 40 minutes with lots of walking in between intervals. The limiter was foot pain, either I'm running wrong or have really horrible suppleness in the foot area.
Oh well, I'll give running 6-8 more weeks.
2009: Compete in at least 5 bike races and determine by mid-season whether I want to go the triathelete route or cyclist route.
