Prologue: I have been meaning to write a series about Holidays and Observances that we (my family and friends) follow in both India (my birth country) and USA (my adopted country). This series is dedicated to those. On a side note, perhaps I might witness some of the celebrations from other countries as well that may get their way into this series. :)

The day after Diwali, most Telugu Indian language speaking states of India perform a ritual called Kedareswara Nomu which was on Nov 13th this year (2023). This signifies the Nomu performed by Goddess Parvati to become a segment of Lord Shiva and eventually becoming the famous avatar of Ardhanareeswara (= a blend of Lord Shiva on one half and Goddess Parvati on the other half).

My family does this every year, and I rarely get a chance to attend, only once to be precise. :) This is a picture of my mom and dad performing this ritual at their home in India.
