Prologue: This series showcases all the Fabrics from each state in India. Some could be something I could drape on or wear; and for some of the states it could be just a home décor item. It all depends what the state's fabric is. Hope you enjoy this journey to the colorful world of Indian Fabrics.

I am beginning the series with my home state, Telangana.

The state of Telangana is famous for several kinds of sarees such as Pochampally Saree, Narayanpet sarees, Gadwal sarees, Mangalgiri sarees, Dharmavaram sarees, Uppada sarees and Venkatagiri sarees. But the key fabric for the state is Pochampally.

It is an ancient, intricate and distinctive dyeing technique creating mesmerizing geometric patterns with a varied range of colors. Also known as Pochampally Ikat, the technique is replicated on cotton and silk sarees.

For last year's Holiday Party at my home, I wore this red and black Pochampally Cotton saree. I paired it with black metal earrings and long necklace; and color coordinating bangles on my wrists.

Here is another view of the same saree.

Last year while I was visiting family in India, I wore this Pochampally Pattu (= Silk) saree for an event. This is a silver and maroon saree with fine print all over and block prints on the border and pallu. I paired it with gold necklace and earrings and color coordinating bangles on my wrists.
